Join us for our 22nd Community Christmas- Wednesday, December 7 , 2016
We are honored to be celebrating our 22nd Year at Community Christmas, Inc. Most of you know about our special yearly holiday program to benefit folks in our area who are in need of help with food. Our program was started in 1993 by Jim and Jennifer Ferreira and Abingdon neighbors to help raise funds for Christmas turkey gift certificates to make the holidays a bit more special for those who were in need of food. The program has grown and become an annual event that brings a special meaning to the holiday season to so many in our community. For twenty-two years, we have provided a wonderful evening full of lively entertainment for all ages by bringing music, dance and storytelling to the Barter stage!
The program this year, “Merry and Bright” will showcase a long list of talented area performers, both new and past favorites, with a special spotlight on the outstanding youth talent from throughout our region. This special yearly event will usher in the season at Barter Theatre on Wednesday, December 7 at 7:00 p.m. with a special preshow at 6:30p.m.
We want to make this 22nd year the best ever for assisting those in need. Last year over 850 turkey and ham gift certificates as well as monetary support have been provided to many of our area groups, including Faith in Action, Feed America, Washington County Social Services, Salvation Army, Healthy Families-Farm Families and others. We also help fund the Annual Community Christmas Dinner which provides more than 750 meals to those in need on Christmas Day.
We hope that you will open your hearts and pockets to this great need by becoming a sponsor for the 2016 Community Christmas Program. Please consider becoming a new sponsor or perhaps bumping up your sponsorship level for this year. Your sponsorship this year will come with complimentary vouchers which can be redeemed at the Barter Box Office for reserved seats tickets for the performance. You will need to call the box office to reserve those seats in advance.
We, at Community Christmas, Inc., wish all of you the very best in the year to come and a wonderful holiday season. We thank you for supporting the return of this popular holiday tradition through a generous contribution to a worthy community cause.
